Legacy Painting

The artist pays respect to all Tasmanian Aboriginal people and acknowledges their sovereignty was never ceded.  The artist seeks to work in culturally safe ways with Tasmanian Aboriginal people, including respecting traditional Aboriginal ways of caring for people at end of life and supporting family and kin through bereavement.

The following flow chart sets out a staged approach to the legacy painting process and is based on the concept of “Life’s Landscape”, a journey through the client’s memories. It is a visual record of life experiences as they unfold like valleys and peaks of a landscape. Each session is one hour  and ideally involves co-production between the client and artist at every stage.
